The Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (HSCA) serves the communities of Hillhurst and Sunnyside in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. HSCA traces its roots all the way back to 1912, but was not registered as a society until 1948. In 1980, HSCA gained registered charitable status and since then we have continued to be a significant provider of social services in the Hillhurst-Sunnyside area and beyond. Our primary services areas are Seniors services (snow removal, housekeeping and lawn care), Outreach Services and Child Care, making us a full-service community centre. Donations made to HSCA are tax deductible. Donors to the United Way may direct all or a portion of their contribution to HSCA through the United Way of Calgary, Donor Choice program. The Yukon Historical & Museums Association (YHMA) was established in 1977 by a group of concerned and passionate individuals wishing to create a united voice that could lend its hand to museums and historical societies around the Yukon. YHMA was designed to be a place for information exchange and as a united body that could speak for Yukon heritage when needed. The objectives of the association are to promote an appreciation of Yukon’s history and culture; to support the efforts of individuals and groups which are interested in preserving and furthering the knowledge of Yukon’s history and culture; to advance the education of Yukoners in matters pertaining to their history, culture and heritage and, pursuant to this, to improve, wherever possible, the levels of training of persons who work in settings with which this Society is concerned; to advocate on behalf of Yukon museums and historical societies and assist them in the realization of their goals and objectives.

Helping people survive and recover from forced displacement.

The Sunshine Coast Forest District comprises 2 million hectares of temperate rainforest, located just north of Vancouver, British Columbia. About 50,000 residents live here in three major towns (Gibsons, Sechelt and Powell River) and many smaller communities. The SCCA is a charitable association of over thirty local conservation and community groups, plus individual residents dedicated to sustaining the environment of the Sunshine Coast.

The Spence Neighbourhood Association is a resident-directed agency that works with the people of our neighbourhood to create and implement solutions to community concerns. We are located in the inner-city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Spence Neighbourhood is a 25 block area with higher than average youth, aboriginal and new immigrant populations, and housing stock that is over 100 years old. The SNA actively involves residents, business owners, and volunteers in the neighbourhood to plan, develop, and implement projects. It was first incorporated as a non-profit entity in 1997 and is directed by a board made of 8-12 residents of the neighbourhood. Resident participation is a key approach of our organization. Since our inception, we have built 33 homes, run innovative gang prevention programs, created nine community gardens and a community greenhouse site, created a community skills bank, pioneered sports programs for the entire inner city and more!

The Saskatchewan Trails Association is working toward creating a sustainable trail building fund that encourages large corporations and individuals to donate to a provincial pool that can be accessed by member organizations. An appropriate recognition program will be developed. The STA will provide support and guidance to trail clubs regarding trail building and maintenance, as well as provide input regarding marketing, promotion and funding. With the STA as coordinator, information will be readily available as to trail availability, future trail plans and how they will complement each other.

The BC Borstal works to resolve conflict in a spirit of reconciliation in order to create long lasting positive change in people's lives.

Street to Trail is a non-profit organization that helps people living on the streets of Toronto to rediscover their inner sense of worth by using the healing power of the natural world. Street to Trail organizes outdoor excursions such as wilderness hikes and canoe trips that help homeless people experience the beauty and therapeutic calmness of nature. At Street to Trail, we believe that by getting troubled individuals away from the city to participate in wilderness adventures, these people can benefit positively: by increasing their self-confidence; by enjoying a positive environment to support overcoming addictions; by finding new, meaningful relationships; and, by rediscovering lost feelings of peace and hope.

The VanDusen Botanical Garden Association ("VBGA") raises funds to support projects in the Garden and the Conservatory and to deliver education programs to visitors of all ages. The VBGA also engages 1,450 volunteers to aid in the work of welcoming and guiding visitors, conducting seed collection and flower arrangement, running special events, as well as providing assistance in running the Garden's botanical library. We delivered 148 education and outreach programs to more than 7,100 participants - 4,100 children and 3,000 adults last year. In January 2013, with the official amalgamation of VanDusen Botanical Garden and Bloedel Conservatory, we began extending our educational program and interpretive reach.

The BC Lung Association provides patient, public and professional education programs, advocates for lung health issues and provides support for scientific research into lung health, lung disease and ways lung health can be improved. Primary targets are asthma, emphysema, lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis and pulmonary fibrosis. The Valley Refuge Association is a charitable non-profit organization based in Kentville, Nova Scotia. We run two projects, The Refuge Transtitional Housing for men and the Portal Youth Centre for all youth. The Refuge Housing, two 5-bedroom apartments and 10 bed capacity, opened early in 2012 and is taking applications from men hoping to become residents. The Refuge serves the needs of men who have a desire to make positive lasting changes in their lives with the help of stable housing, supports, and a unique community that this project will is centered around. Along with the Refuge housing, the Portal Youth Centre is also up and running. Right now we are taking on volunteers to offer their time to interact with the youth of Kentville.

The Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) is a provincial not-for-profit charitable organization, founded in 1986 by individuals whose loved ones had sustained a life altering brain injury. We develop and disseminate information and resources and deliver education programs to promote awareness of the definition, prevalence and effects of brain injury. We provide personal and systemic advocacy with governmental and other organizations on behalf of those with a brain injury. OBIA is a leader in providing education to professionals working in home and community-based rehabilitation programs to improve the quality of care for brain injury survivors, by educating family caregivers, front-line and other healthcare professionals. In 2012 we published an Impact Report (http://obia.ca/the-obia-impact-report/) highlighting the long-term personal costs, issues and challenges faced by survivors. OBIA’s vision is to advance greater understanding and reduce the stigma of acquired brain injury.
