NORTHERN ONTARIO FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH CANCER-NOFCC

NOFCC is an independent volunteered based registered charity established in 1998 by a group of parents of children with cancer. These parents wanted to provide help and support to families, which was not available through other programs. Being parents themselves, they recognized the particular difficulties involved in caring for a child with cancer and the geographic challenges of living in the north. NOFCC serves all families who have been touched by childhood cancer – families with a child on active treatment, those off treatment or receiving follow up care, and bereaved families. Our area expands north to Timmins and Kapuskasing, south to Parry Sound, east to North Bay and west to Sault Ste Marie and all areas in between. NOFCC is not funded by the government and the volunteers rely solely on fundraising activities and donations. At any given time, there are over 30 children in Northern Ontario on active treatment. Many treatments last over 2 years.

American Academy Of Canine Water Rescue

Newfoundland Dogs, as well as Labrador Retrievers and certain other breeds, were specifically bred to rescue people in the water; when this natural instinct is enhanced via clear training, bonding techniques with a human handler then the dog/human team becomes beyond compare as a rescue entity for people in danger of drowning. At present in Italy, the SICS (Scuola Italiana Cani Salvataggio, The Italian School Of Rescue Dogs), has over 400 operational Dogs certified to perform rescues. There are 17 divisions of the SICS throughout Italy; these dogs patrol the beaches of Italy and have been called upon for rescues in other countries. For the past two decades these dog/human units have leapt from helicopters to perform actual life saving rescues!I am certified as an international instructor through the SICS, together with my Newfoundland dog. I attended a course in Milan, Italy with SICS in 2016. Instructors from the SICS came and worked with me and my dog in the USA in 2017 and granted us

American Friends Of Yahad In Unum

Yahad-In Unum (“together in One” in Hebrew and Latin) is a Paris-based organization established in 2004 by Father Patrick Desbois and dedicated to systematically identifying and documenting sites of Jewish mass executions by Nazi mobile-killing units in Eastern Europe and Lithuania during World War II. The objective of this work is to: (1) substantiate a “Holocaust by Bullets,” in addition to those Jews murdered in Nazi concentration camps, (2) give proper respect to the victims’ burial places by identifying their locations, (3) provide evidence of such mass executions to answer the Holocaust deniers of today and tomorrow, and (4) apply the lessons learned to combat contemporary anti-Semitism and genocidal violence.

CALGARY YOUNG PEOPLE,S THEATRE SOCIETY

Calgary Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) is a Not-for-Profit Charitable Society founded in 1992 by Jackie Pontin and Brian Dorscht. CYPT prides itself on providing numerous development opportunities to young people to explore the performing arts and develop their creativity and team work skills. Children can participate and gain confidence and theatrical skills by registering in one of our many classes or drama camp. Our advanced production programs require an audition, and result in professional productions in a professional Calgary theatre! We have a number of experienced staff working at CYPT each with individual areas of theatrical expertise. Artistic Director Kristin Eveleigh and General Manager Gillian Pinckney coordinate the day-to-day organization and artistic planning of the company such as productions, annual programming and staffing. Instructors, Directors and Production Staff are all educational or theatre professionals and are all contracted on a project-to-project basis.
