Vision Statement St. Margaret’s Bay Stewardship Association seeks a democratic method of documenting and honouring common community values in the St. Margaret's Bay area as well as achieving effective stewardship of that which we all hold dear, including our waters and woodlands, our unique history and heritage, the rights of our residents and communities, and the effective management of change with respect to sustainability, vitality, prosperity and self-reliance of the region.

The Rideau Trail crosses terrain ranging from placid farmland to the rugged Canadian shield. It is only intended for walking (hiking), snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. No part of the Rideau Trail itself is owned by the Rideau Trail Association; the continuity of the trail is made possible by the generous permission of both private and public landowners. Three hiking clubs of the RTA - Kingston, Central (Perth), and Ottawa - organize outings in all seasons of the year. Hikes usually take place on the weekend and comprise an activity appropriate for the season, such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter and hiking in the spring, summer, and fall. Other activities are scheduled during the week or on some holidays. Located in Errington, BC on Vancouver Island in Canada, the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is a world class wildlife rehabilitation facility specializing in the rehabilitation of black bears and raptors. The North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre houses the Arthur Knowles Museum of Nature and the May Neish Learning Centre, providing a unique educational opportunity to thousands of school children and the general public. The public is able to view non-releasable wildlife at the centre including eagles, several species of owls, falcons, hawks, ravens, and black bears. The North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization.

UNA-Canada strives for a better world. We focus on the UN issues of peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, and global cooperation. We work directly with youth and educators, building the capacity of young Canadians able to effect positive global change. We foster Canadian support for the UN and the values that drive it - freedom, equity, tolerance, non-violence, respect for nature and shared responsibility. We also help define foreign policy priorities for the Canadian Government. OUR FUNDS: General - supports national projects; Membership - is both national and local; Projects - supports specific national projects/programmes; Reserve - invested, providing ongoing national support; Branch - supports local volunteer-driven initiatives.

Park-To-Park Trail is a regional initiative to create a 230 km east-west recreation trail through Parry Sound, Muskoka, and Haliburton. The route will connect several provincial parks, communities and ammenities to provide trail users with an unforgetable trail experience. As a link in the Trans Canada Trail, the P2P trail is intended to be a "shared-use" network with such uses as hiking, cycling, cross country-skiing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, dog sledding and ATVing.

VOKRA is a no-kill, non-profit, registered charity dedicated to the rescue of cats in the Lower Mainland. VOKRA does not have a shelter. Instead, we provide over 100 individual foster homes throughout the Lower Mainland. In a home environment, our cats are safe and receive lots of love and attention. VOKRA covers all costs and provides ongoing support to foster families. VOKRA's Trap-Neuter-Return team humanely traps feral cats and kittens. Pregnant feral mothers are cared for through birthing and weaning, at which time we spay the mother and socialize the kittens. If the mother cannot be tamed, she is returned to a location where volunteers ensure food and water are available daily, and the cat’s health can be monitored. We also neuter feral male cats, and either adopt them out or release them as appropriate, with the same care arrangements. VOKRA rescued over 1,420 felines in 2009. VOKRA has no paid staff.
