The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State University basketball coach, and ESPN commentator. The V Foundation has funded over $310 million in game-changing cancer research grants nationwide through a competitive process strictly supervised by a world-class Scientific Advisory Committee. Because the V Foundation has an endowment to cover administrative expenses, 100% of direct donations are awarded to cancer research and programs. From the website: "American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC) was founded by Danny Thomas in 1957 to be the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and its sole mission is to raise the funds and awareness necessary to operate and maintain the hospital. In the years ahead, an estimated 89% of the funds necessary to sustain and grow St. Jude must be raised by ALSAC from generous donors."

The NPCF (founded May 2009) strives to provide quality of life, sustainability and dignity to those we serve. Through our volunteers we provide an opportunity of hope and caring for those afflicted by this devastating disease. We also provide the opportunity for their family members to help fight one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in the United States. There is no known cure, however, there are new developments everyday to prolong and sustain the quality of life of the patient.

To maximize dollars available for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center's most promising lifesaving research, treatment and prevention programs, while supporting the psychosocial needs of patients and families touched by cancer. Fundraising events and initiatives are carried out through a partnership between committed Roswell Park Alliance volunteers and Foundation staff.

Nevada Cancer Institute reduces the burden of cancer for Nevada, the nation and the world through innovative and collaborative research, education and patient care.

Nate’s Wish was created to provide encouragement to children newly diagnosed with cancer through the gift of Nate’s Wish packs. The gifts included in Nate’s Wish packs have been selected to give comfort, words of encouragement, and needed distraction from battling cancer. Nate’s Wish is dedicated to offering a pack to all of the one hundred or more children diagnosed with cancer every year at monroe Carell Jr. Children’s hospital at Vanderbilt. Individuals may also make a request for a Nate’s wish pack on behalf of a child with cancer that will be fulfilled as available.
