Breathing is what unites us, what inspires us and it's what keeps our community of physicians, scientists, clinicians, educators, administrators, volunteers and donors so committed—whether it’s searching for cures to lung diseases, teaching kids about the dangers of tobacco, or fighting for clean air. The Canadian Lung Association is the leading organization in Canada working to promote lung health and prevent and manage lung disease. We do this by funding vital research, pushing for improved treatments and smarter policies and supporting patients and their families in managing their health. Every day, we roll up our sleeves and grapple with the challenges of everything from asthma to the environment. We are the go-to resource for patients, their families, caregivers, health professionals and the general community. At a national level, we provide trusted and reliable information online, lead advocacy and awareness efforts and a national research program. Our mission, to improve lung health and save lives through research, education, and advocacy.

Our Mission is to provide a social support environment for professionals and families of individuals affected by Sotos syndrome so they can meet, exchange ideas and help one another cope with the condition. Sotos syndrome is a genetic condition causing physical overgrowth during the first years of life. Children with Sotos syndrome are often taller, heavier, and have larger heads than their peers. Because of the distinctive head shape and size, Sotos syndrome is sometimes called cerebral gigantism. Ironically, this rapid physical development is often accompanied by delayed motor, cognitive and social development. Muscle tone is low, and speech is markedly impaired.
CMHA, National accomplishes its mission through advocacy, education, research and service. For example, as a social advocate, we encourage public action and commitment to strengthening community mental health services, policies and legislation affecting those services. We submit policy statements and briefs to the federal government on behalf of all Canadians. We also collaborate wherever and whenever possible on common issues with mental health service providers, federal government, community organizations, consumers of mental health services and their families. We promote and create innovative programs that address mental health issues; our mental health projects are based on principles of empowerment, peer and family support, participation in decision-making, citizenship, and inclusion in community life. Our programs assist with employment, housing, early intervention for youth, peer support, recreational services, stress reduction workshops, and public education campaigns.

The Billings Ovulation Method teaches a woman to interpret her natural signs of fertility through all her changing life stages from puberty to menopause. The Billings Ovulation Method is easy to learn and is highly successful when used by a couple to achieve or avoid a pregnancy. This method of natural family planning engenders co-operation and respect between the woman and man. It develops love and concern for each other and for the child, thus enriching their relationship. As the Billings Ovulation Method is a natural method, respecting fertility instead of suppressing it by drugs or devices, it is acceptable to couples from all cultures and religions. The Billings Ovulation Method of natural family planning was developed by husband and wife team Drs. John and Evelyn Billings and Fr. Maurice Catarinich, all of Melbourne, Australia, and has since spread worldwide.
