Our mission at The Toronto Humane Society is to promote the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering. The day-to-day operation of the THS involves the direct handling of lost, abandoned, unwanted and injured pets. In any given year, approximately 10,000 animals pass through the shelter, which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The injured receive veterinary care; abandoned animals are given a safe haven. Immature and injured animals are placed in foster care until they are strong enough to be placed for adoption. The Toronto Humane Society is supported solely by individual and corporate donations - we do not receive government funding of any kind.

The Kidney Foundation of Canada is the national volutneer organization committed to reducing the burden of kidney disease through: funding and stimulating innovative research; providing education and support; promoting access to quality healthcare; and increasing public awareness and commitment to advancing kidney health and organ donation.

Ecotrust Canada is an enterprising nonprofit whose purpose is to build the conservation economy. We work at the intersection of conservation and community economic development promoting innovation and providing services for communities, First Nations and enterprises to green and grow their local economies. Our work is varied and relentlessly practical. We send out a regular e-newsletter the "Conservation Economist", or updates can be viewed on our website at ecotrust.ca.

Seniors Services Society offers over fifty years of combined experience serving seniors in New Westminster, across Metro Vancouver and around B.C. The society offers support programs and information for seniors in three distinct areas: Support Services for seniors living in New Westminster; Housing Services for seniors province wide; and information for seniors and service providers throughout the Metro Vancouver via our Community Education department. Annually, Seniors Services Society serves over 4,000 vulnerable and socially isolated seniors across the province.

PARKER STREET FOOD AND FURNITURE BANK is the working name of the Community Care Network Society. We are dedicated to assisting those in need in HRM who require help to access basic necessities such as food, furniture and education. Donations fill many needs, above all, they bring hope into the lives of families who are struggling daily, year-round. Donations allow us to not only help individuals with these basic necessities but also to help them become self-sufficient by offering training programs that translate into work opportunities. Your support also allows us to provide financial assistance in cases where families or individuals need emergency supplies such as oil for their furnace, help with a power bill, and prescription medication. "Reaching into the Community in Service and Love" THE TURKEY CLUB, founded by Jack Cruickshank in 2004, is dedicated to helping the needy at Christmas.

The Alzheimer Society of Calgary is an independent, local non-profit organization serving Calgary and surrounding areas. For thousands of local families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, this is where community, insight and empowerment begin. We work to ensure that people impacted by dementia have access to high quality education, care and support throughout their journey of impact.

The Kelowna General Hospital Foundation aspires to be a leader in the facilitation and promotion of quality health care by funding innovative and effective programs through the commitment of its members and donors.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution. We lead international action to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people.

WE BUILD FAMILIES FOR CHILDREN IN NEED We work for children who are orphaned, abandoned or whose families are unable to care for them. We give these children the opportunity to build lasting relationships within a family. Our family approach in the SOS Children's Village is based on four principles: Each child needs a mother, and grows up most naturally with brothers and sisters, in their own house, within a supportive village environment. WE HELP THEM SHAPE THEIR OWN FUTURES We enable children to live according to their own culture and religion, and to be active members of the community. We help children to recognise and express their individual abilities, interests and talents. We ensure that children receive the education and skills training they need to be successful and contributing members of society. WE SHARE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR COMMUNITIES We share in community life and respond to the social development needs of society's most vulnerable children and young people. We establish facilities and programmes that aim to strengthen families and prevent the abandonment of children. We join hands with community members to provide education and health care, and respond to emergencies.

The War Amps is a Canadian nation-wide registered charitable organization operated under the direction of war amputees. In 1946, the Key Tag Service was launched as a sheltered workshop where war amputees could not only work for competitive wages, but also provide a service to Canadians that would generate funds for the organization. The Address Label Service was introduced in 1972 to provide year-round employment for the disabled staff at the Key Tag Service. The War Amps is able to operate its many programs, such as the CHAMP (Child Amputee) Program, PLAYSAFE and DRIVESAFE, solely through donations from the public to the Key Tag and Address Label Service. The War Amps does not: use professional fundraisers; receive government grants; solicit by phone or door-to-door; sell or trade your name/address; spend more than 10% on administration; tie up funds in long-term investments. Throughout the year, free of charge, Moisson Montreal recovers surplus food items and essential products and distributes them to community support groups all over the island of Montreal. The Moisson Montreal food bank, founded in 1984, also contributes to implementing sustainable solutions that foster self-sufficiency among the disadvantaged. Finally, Moisson Montreal endeavours to raise awareness to issues related to hunger and poverty among citizens and the appropriate government officials. Every year, Moisson Montreal distributes some 8.9 millions kilograms of foodstuffs to 212 agencies providing assistance to 148 460 people in need on the island of Montreal, 41 258 of them children.
