The mission of The Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS) is to rescue and provide life-long homes for captive great cats, bears, wolves and other large carnivores, which have been abused, abandoned, exploited and illegally kept and to educate the public about causes and solutions to the dramatic plight of thousands of captive wildlife in the United States.

Founded in 1999 by environmental attorney and activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and several veteran Waterkeepers, Waterkeeper Alliance is a global movement of on-the-water advocates who patrol and protect over 100,000 miles of rivers, streams and coastlines in North and South America, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa. Waterkeepers defend their communities against anyone who threatens their right to clean water - from law-breaking polluters to unresponsive government agencies. Made up of nearly 200 local Waterkeeper organizations, Waterkeeper Alliance keeps Waterkeepers connected, provides them with legal, scientific and communications support, and unites their voices as they take on major global water issues together.

Food Banks Canada is a national charitable organization representing the food bank community across Canada. Our members and their respective agencies serve approximately 85 per cent of people accessing emergency food programs nationwide. The Ontario Association of Food Banks helps food banks alleviate hunger in Ontario. Every month, over 375,000 Ontarians are served by food banks. The number of people using food banks in Ontario has risen by almost 20 per cent in the past five years; and an alarmingly high average increase in use of 13% since last fall. 40 per cent of those served are children. 20 per cent of those served are Ontarians with a disability. 1 in 5 food banks in Ontario does not have enough food to meet the needs of those they serve. With your support, the organization acquires and moves eight million pounds of food and one million litres of fresh milk to local food banks every year through our food bank distribution network. OAFB also engages in extensive work to reduce hunger. Our Cost of Poverty paper, 2008, www.oafb.ca, coordinated a group of leading economic and public policy experts to provide a first ever analysis of poverty’s economic impact on Ontario. OAFB has a lean administrative rating of 3 %.

As a registered charity, the Children’s Aid Foundation raises funds for programs of the Children’s Aid Society and other child welfare organizations that support children in three critical areas: Education programs that give children a chance to pursue their dreams and build successful lives for themselves, Enrichment programs that provide recreational and cultural opportunities so that disadvantaged children can experience healthy development, and Prevention programs that provide support for families before abuse and neglect begin.

We accept requests for shelter at all times. We offer counselling and support as well as follow-up services for each resident. Thanks to our telephone support services and outreach program, we also provide assistance to women who do not require shelter. Our personnel speak English, French and Spanish; in addition, interpreters are called in whenever needed. The North York Harvest Food Bank is the second-largest food bank in Toronto, distributing 1.8 million pounds of food last year through 60 neighbourhood programs. An independent, charitable organization, we envision a community where all members are able to meet their food needs. In 2009, more than 160,000 food hampers were provided to people living in northern Toronto through our member agency network of neighbourhood food banks, programs for expecting mothers and new parents, shelters for women and youth, and community kitchens. Our member agencies include social service agencies, community health centres, faith-based institutions, and volunteer-run organizations. In addition to our warehousing and distribution operations, we coordinate a youth engagement initiative, community garden activities, free pick-your-own farm trips, and a neighbourhood resource centre.

We provide compassionate care for individuals, their families, friends and caregivers facing a life threatening illness, extending through bereavement. Our services include a Palliative Care program, Bereavement Care program, Caregiver Support and Training.

Each month 40,000 Nova Scotians face the harsh realities of hunger - children, adults, seniors. FEED NOVA SCOTIA helps feed hungry people by collecting and distributing food to 153 member agency food banks and meal programs in Nova Scotia, and strives to eliminate hunger and poverty through research, awareness and support programs. Rather than allocating funds to individual agencies donations are used as follows: Feeding hungry people: We distribute food to our member agencies using a fair share system so people across the province have access to food in times of need. Each year we sort and distribute almost 2 million kilograms of food that comes to us from a variety of sources. Eliminating hunger and poverty: Through statistics and stories, we provide a clear picture of hunger and poverty in Nova Scotia and encourage others to join the call for change. We offer programs that support people experiencing food insecurity and help provide a chance for a new start.

While we have made great strides towards equality in Canada, lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-identified (LGBT) people still live in basic fear for their lives in many parts of the world. In the spirit of, and with homage to the Underground Railroad, the mission of the Rainbow Railroad is to help LGBT people as they seek safe haven from state enabled violence, murder or persecution. Rainbow Railroad is a volunteer-based registered charity. Who do we help? Our current focus is on LGBT individuals who have faced physical violence or face an imminent threat of violence. Currently we are working with LGBT communities where our connections are strongest in the Caribbean, Africa and former Soviet States.

The Ottawa Food Bank supplies 138 emergency food programs, bringing hope to people who need it most. Dozens of organizations such as The Shepherds of Good Hope, The Ottawa Mission and the Salvation Army rely heavily on The Ottawa Food Bank, as do school meal programs, shelters and neighbourhood grocery programs throughout the National Capital Region. The Food Bank depends upon the generosity of donors like you to make this work possible.

The Bonnechere Manor Foundation is a registered charity made up of a group of volunteers dedicated to raising funds to enrich the quality of life for all residents and clients at the Bonnechere Manor. Whether it is an Auditorium, state-of-the-art equipment, or programs to enrich the residents' quality of life, the Foundation is dedicated to making Bonnechere Manor truly a home-away-from-home. The Foundation is also a vehicle to raise funds that support capital projects and other programs that are not funded through existing Ministry of Health and Long Term Care mechanisms.
