Animal Defense League Of Texas

Chartered in 1934, the Animal Defense League of Texas (ADL) is the oldest no-kill shelter for abandoned, abused, or neglected dogs and cats in South Central Texas. Through the operation of two facilities, a centrally located 12-acre campus and the city-owned Paul Jolly Center for Adoptions, ADL saves the lives of vulnerable animals primarily originating from the most poverty-stricken communities in San Antonio. A full veterinary hospital housed on the main campus provides spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping for all pets in ADL’s care. In addition, ADL performs specialized surgeries for animals with complex medical conditions and is the first organization to provide no-cost mobile wellness clinics to historically underserved areas. ADL’s partnership with Animal Care Services (ACS) is instrumental in helping the City of San Antonio back to achieving a “No-Kill” status.

L'ARCHE ASSOCIATION OF EDMONTON

Adults with disabilities are the foundation of our community. It is through their inspiration that we follow our commitment to those with disabilities and strive to provide ever more opportunities for their continued growth and security. Developmental disabilities include autism, Down’s syndrome, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and others. L’Arche makes a lifetime commitment to accompany all community members with developmental disabilities throughout their lives. This lifetime commitment ensures that the L’Arche community remains a unique example of inclusiveness and belonging where the dignity of all people is affirmed and celebrated. The L’Arche community’s approach to inclusive living is tantamount to the family dynamic where each L’Arche house is a home and each member of the family (persons with and without developmental disabilities) is nurtured to fulfill his or her own potential.

L'Arche Association of Lethbridge

L'Arche Lethbridge is a small and intimate L'Arche Community of two homes in which men and women with intellectual disabilities (core members) and those who choose to share life with them (assistants), live and work together. Since Jean Vanier founded L'Arche in 1964. L'Arche has grown into an International Federation which includes over 130 communities in about 30 countries. L'Arche Lethbridge is a permanent member of this Federation. There is an "unrepeatable grace" that is present in the life of each and every person. The real reason we share life with each other at L'Arche Lethbridge is to reveal this unrepeatable grace to each person, to their companions, and to the world. In a world full of conflict L'Arche Lethbridge (together with all L'Arche communities worldwide) is an important witness to the fact that it is possible for people of different abilities, cultures and faiths to live in peace by valuing and loving the unrepeatable grace that is present in each person.
