Warrior Canine Connection

Warrior Canine Connection is a pioneering organization that utilizes clinically based Canine Connection Therapy to empower returning combat Veterans who have sustained physical and psychological wounds while in service to our country. Based on the concept of Warriors helping Warriors, WCC's therapeutic service dog training program is designed to mitigate symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries, while giving recovering Service Members and Veterans a sense of purpose, help in reintegrating back into their families and communities, and a potential career path as a service dog trainer. The program also produces highly skilled Warrior-trained service dogs that will provide years of mobility and social support to Veterans with disabilities.

New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans

The Mission of the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans is to extend a helping hand to homeless veterans who have served the United States honorably in peace and war who are addressing the challenges of addiction, trauma, severe and persistant mental illness, and/or unemployment. And, who will commit themselves to sobriety, non-violence, and working for personal change; to offer homeless veterans temporary, save overnight accomodation and basic nutrition; to offer in a fiscally sound manner effective longer term programs which best meet the veteran's transition needs, utilizing the full range of government, foundation grants and private contributions; to refer veterans to other public and private institutions through a network of service providers who can meet their needs, not duplicating what others can do better; to create and operate housing for veterans as an important solution to homelessness; and to one day become recognized as the most effective private veteran's transition program in the country.

The mission of Riley’s Army is to provide support to children with cancer and their families in Eastern North Carolina. organizing volunteers to provide individualized support for the family to maintain a healthy home environment; providing educational, financial and logistical support for the children and family as they navigate along the difficult path of childhood cancer treatment; facilitate efforts of existing service organizations, churches and individuals for pediatric cancer patients and their families; raise awareness of pediatric cancer and advocate for patient centered care.

United Through Reading

Together, we unite military families facing physical separation by facilitating the bonding experience of reading aloud. United Through Reading provides new, high-quality children's books to military households & offers service members the opportunity to be video-recorded reading books to their children for use when the service member is deployed or can't be physically present for storytime - all of the tools needed for a storytime routine. Program participation supports military family resiliency by boosting family morale, reducing stress, and bolstering the literacy development of military children, who are considered an at-risk population due to the unique demands of military life, including frequent family separations, academic disruptions, & interrupted family routines.
