World Educare Network (WENET) is Not-for-profit Non-governmental Organization engaged with the underlying communities in Eastern & Northern Uganda. Established in 1986, Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP) is the non-profit organization transforming and revitalizing Buffalo Bayou, Houston's most significant natural resource. BBP's geographic focus is the 10-square mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou from Shepherd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin. Thanks to the generous support of foundations, corporations, individuals and government agencies, BBP has raised and leveraged more than $150 million for the redevelopment and stewardship of the waterfront - spearheading award-winning projects such as Sabine Promenade and Sesquicentennial Park, protecting land for future parks, constructing hike and bike trails, and operating comprehensive clean-up and maintenance programs. In 2015, BBP completed the $58 million Buffalo Bayou Park project that includes major destinations, natural landscaping, footpaths, trail lighting, water features and pedestrian bridges. Buffalo Bayou Partnership maintains and operates Buffalo Bayou Park, with annual funding provided by the Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) #3. Buffalo Bayou Partnership also seeks ways to activate Buffalo Bayou through pedestrian, boating and biking amenities; volunteer activities; permanent and temporary art installations; and wide-ranging tours and events that attract thousands.
Diocese of Marsabit: The Catholic Diocese of Marsabit was established in November 1964 through the efforts of Bishop Charles Cavallera (Bishop of the Diocese of Marsabit 1964-81). The jurisdiction previously covered the two Counties of Northern Kenya namely: Marsabit and Samburu. In 1981 the Diocese got a new Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Ambrose Ravasi was in charge of the Diocese until 2006. Rt. Rev. Peter Kihara Kariuki the current Bishop was installed as the third Bishop of the Diocese in January 2007. Coverage: The Diocese covers the entire Marsabit County, which is the second largest in Kenya after Turkana and covers an area of 70,961.2 sq. km. Marsabit is classified as 100% Arid and Semi-Arid Land (ASAL). According to the 2019 census, the county has a population of 459,785. It has 17 Parishes served by clergy from different congregations and nationalities. The county is mainly inhabited by pastoralist communities with a mix of indigenous ethnic and sub-ethnic communities who profess Christianity, Islam, and African traditional religions. Caritas Marsabi: Catholic Diocese of Marsabit's development agency - Caritas Marsabit is a committed Faith Based Organization that supports integral human development of the pastoralists' communities in Marsabit County. The function of Caritas Marsabit aligns itself with the objectives of the pastoral department of the diocese, whose main function is evangelization. The organization's mission is to empower the people to know God and live in dignity and harmony. It envisions a people holistically empowered in line with the gospel values. W In her programs, Caritas Marsabit aims to facilitate, network, and empower the target communities through need-based multi-sectoral programs built on positive cultural and modern practices that utilize available local resources and modern technology. In all these, we are guided by core values of Love, Honesty, Stewardship, Accountability, and Community engagement. Target: Our target groups are largely pastoralists and agro-pastoralists who rely on agriculture which is a highly climate-sensitive sector. As such, the goal of promoting adaptation, mitigation, and poverty reduction is core in our program designs. The organization adopts the Kenya National Adaptation Plan (2015-2030) recommendation of mainstreaming climate change adaptation in all sectors. As such the organization undertakes short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures to build communities' resilience against climate change-related shocks. Our Programs: Caritas Marsabit has identified six strategic pillars that guide our work and help us address the diverse needs of the communities we serve. These pillars form the foundation of our programs and initiatives: 1. Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): We strive to improve access to clean water, and proper sanitation facilities, and promote hygienic practices. Our WASH programs focus on constructing and rehabilitating water sources, building latrines, and conducting hygiene promotion activities to ensure healthier living conditions for the most vulnerable communities of Marsabit County. Health and Nutrition: Caritas Marsabit is dedicated to improving the health and nutrition status of the people in the county. We provide healthcare services, promote preventive health practices, conduct awareness campaigns, and support nutrition programs to combat malnutrition and enhance overall well-being. Sustainable Livelihoods: Caritas Marsabit supports the development of sustainable livelihood options for individuals and communities. We provide vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and access to microfinance to empower people to generate income, improve their economic situation, and reduce poverty. The specific objectives under this theme include: To promote diverse income-generating activities To enhance Livestock production and marketing 4. Justice and Peace (JP): We advocate for justice, equality, and peace in Marsabit. Our programs focus on promoting social cohesion, conflict resolution, human rights awareness, and strengthening community-based justice systems. We strive for a just and peaceful society where everyone can live harmoniously. The specific objectives under this program include: To promote communities` engagement in peace-building and conflict transformation processes. Increase public participation in good governance issues at local and national levels 5. Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, and Natural Resource Management (DCC-NRM): We work towards building resilience and mitigating the impacts of disasters and climate change. Our efforts include disaster preparedness, climate change adaptation strategies, sustainable land and water management, and conservation of natural resources. The specific objectives include: Promote sustainable use of natural resources Increase communities` capacities to manage disaster Reduce communities` suffering during emergencies. 6. Institutional Development and Capacity Strengthening (IDCS): Caritas Marsabit places significant emphasis on Institutional Development and Capacity Strengthening as a pivotal pillar in its strategic plan. This commitment stems from the organization's recognition of deficiencies in organizational policies before 2015, wherein the Human Resources (HR) policy was merely a two-page document utilized across the entire diocese, lacking the depth necessary for effective management. The financial manual was brief, outlining minimal guidelines on procurement, and several essential policies were absent. During the preceding strategic period (2015-2020), Caritas Marsabit underwent substantial institutional growth. A series of self-assessments revealed longstanding institutional gaps, allowing the organization to formulate comprehensive work plans addressing these issues. Notably, the strategic initiative aligned with the Encyclical Deus Caritas Est, which emphasized the importance of professional competence among individuals caring for those in need. In response, Caritas Marsabit developed a robust HR policy, aligning with contemporary standards, and fostering improved recruitment processes, staff establishment, and retention. The implementation of a structured organogram, clear reporting lines, and detailed job descriptions for all positions significantly contributed to attracting and retaining competent staff. The positive shift is evident as Caritas Marsabit now attracts professionals from peer organizations, marking a departure from the high staff turnover experienced in the past. Financial management and operational procedures have undergone periodic improvements, earning approval from partners and auditors due to robust internal control systems. Annual organizational audits and project-specific audits enhance accountability, transparency, and quality management, culminating in organizational efficiency and a diverse resource base. Caritas Marsabit further refined logistics and procurement through a separate policy document. Manuals for fleet management, warehouse operations, anti-fraud, gender, child protection, sexual harassment, and community feedback and complaints handling mechanisms were developed and implemented. The organization's governance structure now includes a fully constituted board meeting bi-annually, providing oversight to different departments. As a member of the CHS Alliance, Caritas Marsabit has achieved a well-structured institutional system. Nevertheless, the organization acknowledges the need for continuous improvement in capacity. Collaborating with partners and donors, Caritas Marsabit has undertaken various capacity-strengthening initiatives. The organization engaged in discussions with Caritas Kenya on institutional capacity strengthening and shared learning with other diocesan Caritas Organizations. One significant proposal involved the assessment against the Caritas Internationalis Management Standards (CIMS) within the dioceses. Caritas Marsabit aims to conduct a self-assessment against CIMS in the new strategic plan, reflecting the organization's commitment to sustained growth and adherence to international standards. Here are three specific objectives for IDCS: Comprehensive Policy Framework: Develop and implement a comprehensive policy framework that addresses organizational deficiencies, ensuring adherence to contemporary standards and best practices. This includes revising and expanding the Human Resources (HR) policy, financial manual, and other essential policies to guide effective management, recruitment processes, and operational procedures. Professional Competence and Staff Retention: Enhance the professional competence of the organization's workforce by implementing a robust HR policy. This involves providing proper training for staff, improving recruitment processes, establishing clear reporting lines through the development of an organogram, and creating detailed job descriptions for all positions. The goal is to attract, retain, and empower competent professionals, reducing staff turnover and fostering a more stable and skilled workforce. The Battery Conservancy, a non-profit educational corporation, was created in 1994 to revitalize The Battery and renew the spirit of Castle Clinton National Monument, the park's major landmark. The goal is to return The Battery and Castle to their historic roles as the center of cultural life in the Harbor and Downtown New York. The historic Battery, at the southern tip of Manhattan, is one of the most visited parks in New York City. An estimated 6 million people visit The Battery and the Castle annually, including national and international tourists, school children, and local residents and workers in Downtown Manhattan. Sweeping views of the Harbor and the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island frame the setting for New York's premier waterfront park. Visitors stroll along the 1500-foot Admiral Dewey Promenade at the water's edge, which is also the point of departure for the many ferries taking people to harbor attractions. The park's 25 acres are home to 21 monuments, memorials and works of art, many related to the Battery's role in the history of immigration and defense. The Conservancy plays a pivotal role among organizations vitally interested in the future of The Battery, the downtown district, the waterfront, the quality of community life and the environment in New York. New York City owns and maintains Battery Park through the Department of Parks & Recreation; the U.S. government owns and maintains Castle Clinton through the National Park Service; and both are major sites in New York State's Harbor Heritage Area. "No child's life shall be curtailed by the circumstances of his or her birth because each one deserves absolute love and infinite opportunity to grow" Established in 2012, our fundamental purpose is to deliver those without means into this world safely and render them to a loving family securely. To provide and ensure quality healthcare, education, and recreation to all children, is our broader initiative. We have due to the support of donor organizations made progress by leaps and bounds. Our presence in Machar Colony has helped the community in providing them with services that are the basic right of every individual. Following are the projects that we have initiated in Machar Colony: 1. Khel- A learning and rereational centre for children in Machar colony, which solely focus on providing a learning space, a play area and a secure environment for children who work at night in shrimp peeling factories and are found gambling or aimlessly roaming the streets in the day time. 2. Sehat Ghar- a maternal and child health clinic under the name Sehat Ghar and since its inception in 2014 has treated 45,000+ patients for Hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, water-borne diseases, scabies, respiratory disorders and diabetes. Our program is working with expectant mothers and newborn children and is enabling the community through various medical camps in order to make informed decisions regarding health, family planning and child birth. The three room clinic has an ultrasound facility and a running labor room for expectant mothers. 3. Pasban-e-Mauhal- An environmentally friendly initiative focusing on solid waste management and waste disposal. A garbage loader and two sanitary workers have been assigned under this project which go door-to-door and collect waste. 4. Imkaan Ghar- A shelter for abandoned babies. Imkaan Ghar shelters babies that are rescued and are provided healthcare and a safe home until adopted by forever families.

Humanity Child Protection Foundation is a Christian organization committed to the protection, education, and holistic development of vulnerable children. Our organization was founded on the belief that every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, deserves the opportunity to live a safe, healthy, and dignified life. Many children in marginalized communities, particularly those working in brick kilns or living in poverty, face extreme hardships, including child labor, lack of access to education, malnutrition, and exposure to unsafe environments. These challenges often trap children in cycles of poverty and limit their opportunities for growth, learning, and personal development. Our mission is to provide practical support and long-term solutions that address the root causes of vulnerability. Humanity Child Protection Foundation operates independently but receives focal sponsorship support from Moses Welfare Foundation, allowing us to expand our reach, improve program quality, and ensure sustainable impact. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and adaptable, taking into account the specific needs and cultural contexts of the children and communities we serve. Through our work, we envision a world where every child experiences safety, love, and opportunity. By combining faith-driven principles with practical interventions, we strive to create lasting change, transforming lives, strengthening communities, and building a generation of children who are empowered, educated, and hopeful. Our ultimate goal is not only to meet immediate needs but to create systemic change that ensures the protection and well-being of children for generations to come. INTRODUCTION Promise Giving Organization is a non-profit making organization situated in Nairobi Kenya. It is registered with the Ministry of East Africa Community, Labour and social protection department of social development and heritage as a charitable Institution. Promise Giving Organization takes care of the abandoned, orphaned, the neglected and whose rights have been violated. Formed in July 2019 out of a desire to support, restore, empowering and bringing hope to children, vulnerable women and youth affected by wars, sexual violence, sexual exploitation and abuse, victim survived of torture and deprived of human rights. Our priority is to investing in people, and we are committed to giving assistance to those in need regardless of religion, race, nationality or gender. Our vision is to help the Community especially women and children and the displaced people affected by wars, famine, disease, ignorance, violence, poverty or privates of human rights positively reshaped and restore. We specifically focus to support the affected children, the poor and marginalized and the displaced people through our crosscutting programs by providing Education; healthcare; human right and protection advocacy; Community development programs; social assistance; and volunteer program. Our being is to help the affected women and children to integrate in the community and aspire for a better future, to support technically the feminine development initiative actions and projects. Also, to network and partner with other organizations, NGOs (Non- Governmental Organizations), CBOs (Community Based Organization). Associations and individuals to provide support effective intervention, training and assistance. Promise Giving Organization is more engaged in the services of supporting, restoring and bringing hope to women and children and our desire is that we address their suffering in appropriate and caring manner. VISION To provide a safe, caring and loving environment for the children and communities where their caregivers are empowered to improve their own livelihood through appropriate and affordable alternatives. MISSION To restore hope among vulnerable children and provide them with basic and secondary needs such as Food, Shelter, Education, clothes, medical care, Recreation, Parental and spiritual guidance. OBJECTIVES To rescue the abandoned children To educate all the orphans and vulnerable children Protect and promote welfare of children and young adults to enable them overcome social problems through economic empowerment. To empower and capacity build school/college going students through proper career guidance. To ensure the children understand the importance of conserving and protecting the environmental activities Promote the awareness of the productive Health talks to the young children. To assist the organization has an income generating activity. To create employment for the women and youths in the community. CORE VALUES Integrity Leadership Service Accountability Transparency Love Respect Unity Teamwork PROJECT SUMMARY In spite of planned development and special provision for accelerated socio-economic development of neglected/disadvantaged sections, the issue of orphan, semi orphan and street children is not properly addressed. In our project area many Orphan, Semi Orphan and Street Children are found. The problem of orphan / street children is acute due to urbanization and industrialization. Due to the Deaths of HIV/AIDS affected persons, Re-marriage of Deserted / Widowed / Divorce women, Absence of love and security in the families, Family disputes, Unwanted pregnancy of Trafficking / Sexually exploited girls; these orphan and street children are left without care and support. These children are involved in rag picking; pick pocketing and participating in anti social, criminal activities. Therefore, we envisage mainstreaming these children in the national building by providing care, support and protection in our Promise Giving Children's Family. Promise Giving Children's Family houses orphans and vulnerable children and needy families and provides care support and protection for them. This home has 10 workers among them cooks, cleaners, teachers, caretakers and administrators. All children are provided with 3 times nutritious food, clean water, books, school uniforms, clothing, beddings, sanitary pads, diapers, water, soap detergents and shoes as well as psychological and spiritual support. Every child has an opportunity for indoor and outdoor recreation and play facilities. We also support them to realize their potentials, careers and talents so as to become self-reliant and responsible members of the society. We as Promise Giving Children's Family aim to bring a service of hope to the needy and vulnerable children and families in the community. PROBLEM STATEMENT The problem of the orphaned, needy and vulnerable children is acute due to poverty levels in our communities thus most families are unable to afford basic needs for their children. There is also an increase of children who are affected and infected with HIV/AIDS while others have been orphaned as a result of the deaths of AIDS affected persons. The situation is also further aggravated by the absence of love and security and unwanted pregnancy of sexually exploited girls conflict, social injustices, gender violence etc. These children are involved in rag picking, pick pocketing, participating in anti-social, criminal activities. FUTURE MAJOR VISION We are aspiring to have our own compound where we don't pay the rent and if possible, to expand from the ordinary home to group of schools where our children will get opportunity to be at the orphanage and proceed to our junior school, senior school up to the highest level possible. The center will also ensure that all the beneficiaries who have completed school/college will have a placement, this shall include vulnerable children who have completed the vocational training hence they will be provided by the working capital inform of tools and materials to start off. CONCLUSION Children symbolizes the continuation of generation; it shows that when they are well motivated and protected our future becomes brighter. When they are nurtured in the best way the world shall be better place to live in. We need the children to be cared for at all cost no matter the background where that child comes and that is why whenever the county officer knocked the door to bring in a child into our premises, we always receive them with open heart and love.
