The Barth Syndrome Foundation of Canada is a purely volunteer chartiable organization that works on behalf of Canadians affected by this rare metabolic condition.
The goals of this organization are:
To raise awareness of Barth syndrome so that doctors are testing for it and children are accurately diagnosed. Historically, boys died of heart failure or infection by 3 years of age, but with improved diagnosis and appropriate medical treatment and monitoring of all symptoms, the survival rate and future of these individuals is much brighter.
To assist families with children affected by Barth Syndrome through education, access to physicians and support
To support research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and hopefully a cure for Barth syndrome
To support other charitable, scientific and educational organizations whose goals are similar to ours
We are actively doing work in all of these areas, and in order to continue this and expand our programs, we need your help
