Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) acts as a first responder to vulnerable communities affected by disasters around the world. GEM is dedicated to restoring hope and opportunity in the lives of those most affected by disasters. The organization provides immediate relief, assists communities during the gap period before receiving assistance from other institutions, and engages in long-term recovery efforts with sustainable development practices. This three-phased approach allows GEM to provide individuals and families with the help they need when they need it most.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying their model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 400 million nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. The mission of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community.To fulfill our mission we: Source and acquire food and other products and distribute to people in need through charitable agencies or directly through programs; Energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief; Conduct hunger education and awareness campaigns and advocate for public policies that alleviate hunger.Our vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County. The Food Bank, founded in 1973, provides food and other products to people seeking food assistance throughout Los Angeles County. We also energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief through volunteerism, food and fund drives, financial and in-kind support. The Food Bank also conducts hunger education and awareness campaigns and advocates for public policies that alleviate hunger. With the help of 31,000 volunteers and financial supporters, the Food Bank distributed over 60 million pounds of food in 2011 including 14 million pounds of fresh produce. We serve over 1 million individuals throughout Los Angeles County each year. The Food Bank also has nutrition education classes for local schools. Additionally, we make every effort to educate the public about the problem of hunger.

By taking a holistic approach, SBP shrinks the time between disaster and recovery in three intersecting ways—advocate, build and prepare.SBP advocates for policy and system change and advises state and local leaders to run disaster recovery programs more efficiently and effectively to create transformational change and scale impact.SBP builds resilient communities efficiently and effectively.SBP prepares individuals, communities and organizations to mitigate risk and speed recovery.

SJICC USA raises funds in North America in support of charities in India with an excellent record of governance, transparency and impact. These charities provide much needed care for sick needy children. SJICC USA can provide a tax-effective way for residents and taxpayers of the USA to make donations to fund grant applications submitted by charities in India that meet our goals. Our current focus is to fund St. Jude India ChildCare Centers in Mumbai, but we have the flexibility to support allied charities in India that have adopted a model similar to that of St. Judes (www.stjudechild.org).

Cultural Care Kids First Foundation, drawing on the strength of the global community of Cultural Care Au Pair, provides resources to support organizations that strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of children in need around the world.
