The sexual harassment that has been reported in the last few months has been both horrific and illuminating. We stand with the brave individuals who have come forward, at great risk to themselves, to protect others from similar behavior. The National Women’s Law Center is excited to announce the launch of the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund. The TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, which is housed at and administered by the National Women’s Law Center, connects those who experience sexual misconduct including assault, harassment, abuse and related retaliation in the workplace or in trying to advance their careers with legal and public relations assistance. The Fund will help defray legal and public relations costs in select cases based on criteria and availability of funds. Donations to the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund are tax deductible through the Direct Impact Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or through the National Women’s Law Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The initiative was spearheaded by actors and others in the entertainment industry, attorneys Tina Tchen and Roberta Kaplan, and top public relations professionals. Women in Hollywood came together around their own experience of harassment and assault, and were moved by the outpouring of support and solidarity against sexual harassment from women across sectors. This inspired them to help create a Fund to help survivors of sexual harassment and retaliation in all industries—especially low-income women and people of color. They worked together in an historic first to design a structure that would be both inclusive and effective. The Fund will be housed and administered by the National Women’s Law Center and the participating attorneys will be working with the Center’s Legal Network for Gender Equity. Access to prompt and comprehensive legal and communications help will empower individuals and help fuel long-term systemic change. This Fund will enable more individuals to come forward and be connected with lawyers — regardless of industry, rank or role. Countless activists, celebrities, and other donors want to see an end to a culture that allows sexual harassment and retaliation of those who courageously step forward to go unpunished. This effort is not just to support women in Hollywood, but others in need – the factory worker, the waitress, the teacher, the office worker, and others subjected to this unacceptable behavior. Now is the time to finally stop the sexual harassment and retaliation that has often gone unchecked.

Mercy in Action is a non-profit organization that focuses on the crisis in Maternal/Newborn/Child health care worldwide. We have been establishing and funding free birth centers for poor families in the Philippines since 1992, and to date more than 12,000 babies have been delivered free of charge for the poorest of the poor in Mercy In Action's Birth Centers, and literally tens of thousands of lives have been helped and healed in the medical outreaches. Mercy In Acton also teaches clinical internships, seminars and training retreats to prepare midwives, medics and nurses to meet the global shortage of skilled birth attendants, and to help primary health care workers prevent unnecessary child deaths.

Jessie's Place is a child advocacy center where investigative efforts of law enforcement and DCF are coordinated and supported with collaboration from community partners of multiple disciplines. In our child-friendly facility, abused and neglected children of Citrus County, Florida receive specialized forensic interviews and medical exams. The children and their families receive advocacy services and trauma-focused, evidence-based therapy to help heal the trauma and begin their journey to recovery. Friends of Guest House helps women successfully reenter the community from incarceration. Since our founding in 1974, Guest House has helped more than 5,000 women break the vicious cycle of incarceration, reunite with their families, and reintegrate into their communities. Our mission is to provide formerly incarcerated women the structure, supervision, support, and assistance they need to move beyond who they were to become who they want to be.

As well, we work with advocates, policy makers and others to build sustainable community leadership and educate people everywhere about the importance of respect and healthy relationships – the relationships that all individuals, families, and communities need and deserve."

Building upon the legacy of Muslim American and Japanese American solidarity since 9/11, #VigilantLOVE is a healing and arts-driven organization that counters mainstream narratives of insularity. #VigilantLOVE organizes grassroots movement around Islamophobic ideologies that inflict personal, communal and state violence by creating spaces for connection amongst those identifying as Japanese American, Muslim American, Black, South Asian, Arab, East Asian, queer, trans, and interfaith accomplices.

Founded in 1902, the mission of the SPCA of Tompkins County is to protect companion animals. We are the first open-admission, no-kill shelter in the country dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation. not only do we steward animals, but the environment as well. our “green” shelter, known as the Dorothy and Roy Park Pet Adoption Center, was LEED- Certified Silver in 2004—the first shelter to achieve this status in the united States. our best practices in shelter operations and programs serve as effective examples for other shelters across the country striving to achieve no-kill status. We strive to foster a community in which the need for sheltering abandoned, neglected and homeless and abused animals is diminished; and we work ceaselessly to place medically and behaviorally healthy, treatable or manageable animals in loving homes. We provide leadership in cruelty investigation initiatives, educational outreach, and pet population control. We promote responsible pet stewardship by providing behavioral issues-counseling as needed for adopted animals and their owners, as well as behavior training for shelter dogs to increase adoption rates and ultimately nurture and enhance the human-animal bond.
