Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is dedicated to helping the visually impaired and blind population of the greater Washington region overcome the challenges of vision loss.  Our work enables people of all ages who are visually impaired or blind to remain independent, active, and productive in our society. We help people with vision loss live independently to fulfill their life's purposes.  We do this by providing comprehensive services and programs for people of all ages ( for children, adults and seniors, etc.) including employment, training, vision care, recreation and advocacy.

HERhealthEQ

HERHealthEQ is driving health equity by providing medical devices and equipment to developing countries for women's health issues. HERHealthEQ's vision is a world where healthcare, medical devices, and equipment are accessible to all women, equally. Women are the cornerstone of the family unit. When a woman becomes ill and does not receive the care she needs, the entire family unit is at greater risk of remaining in a cycle of poverty. We focus on providing equipment involved in the treatment of the top non-communicable diseases (NCDs) that affect the developing world which include cancers affecting women, maternal health, diabetes, and heart disease.

South Eastern Medical Interpreters Association

The South Eastern Medical Interpreter Association provides continuing education opportunities and a forum for medical interpreters and translators to exchange ideas and experiences. SEMIA supports medical interpreter training in order to facilitate access to health care and other fundamental services for limited-English proficient and marginalized communities. The Association promotes professionalism and public awareness of the importance of providing quality interpretation services in health care.
