Based in Chicago’s Woodlawn community, The Darren B. Easterling Center for Restorative Practices (the Center), is a trauma recovery center, founded on the belief that no one's legacy should ever be defined by their worst mistake. Our mission is to eradicate the individual behaviors we believe to be at the core of gun-violence by offering trauma-centered recovery services to women, children and formerly incarcerated men ages 16-25, who have experienced the effects of violent crime as either a victim or an offender.

Our leadership and innovative thinking has created a rich history and strong foundation for our work.

Chetna

CHETNA empowers South Asians affected by domestic violence, inspiring them to rebuild their lives. CHETNA (Sanskrit for Consciousness, Feeling) is a grass-roots non-profit organization incorporated in 2005 by a small group of volunteers. CHETNA first began offering confidential and compassionate support to individuals who were at risk for further abuse or neglect, through our Helpline and Peer Support/Advocacy services. Board members and volunteers provided information, referrals, interpretation/translation, meals, clothing, court accompaniment and emotional support to victims to assist them in exploring their options and navigating through the system.

Worthwhile Wear exist to provide restoration to survivors of human trafficking both internationally and in the US.

Thorn

Thorn builds technology to defend children from sexual abuse. We believe that every child has the right to be safe, to be curious, to be happy. We work with the sharpest minds from tech, non-profit, government and law enforcement to stop the spread of child sexual abuse material, stand up to child traffickers and uncover new kinds of abuse. Technology is a powerful tool. We choose to use it for good. Our programs and products find child abuse victims faster, make online environments safer, and deter criminal behavior.

Operation First Response

Operation First Response serves wounded, injured and critically ill active duty Service Members, Disabled Veterans, First Responders and Gold Star families with personal and financial needs. Services are provided from the onset of injury, throughout their recovery period and along their journey from service life into the civilian world. Financial aid varies as each case is based on individual needs ranging from rent, utilities, vehicle payments, groceries, clothing, and travel expenses.

VTV Family Outreach Foundation

On April 16, 2007, a shooter took the lives of 32 innocent students and faculty, as well as injuring and traumatizing many more. VTV, a 501 c3 founded on October 10, 2009 by the families of the victims and survivors, is committed to preventing more such tragedies and helping those impacted by them. VTV’s non-partisan Campaign 32 is dedicated to getting every state to follow Virginia’s example and submit all prohibited names into the national background check system.

Center of Hope is a refuge of peaceful existence providing innovative and compassionate direct advocacy, therapeutic counseling, and residential services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking. As a leading resource for system change, Center of Hope’s goal is to provide meaningful and effective support while addressing the attitudes and behaviors which allow violence to continue in our community. Our comprehensive program ensures that the needs of the victims we serve are met in a holistic and compassionate manner by equipping and empowering them with the skills they need to move beyond the trauma and onto the fulfilling lives they deserve.
